Bambau Labs – P1S

Simply Amazing!

Last Christmas, I decided to upgrade my 3D printing setup and invested in a Bambu Labs P1S — it’s now $300 off. With all the rave reviews out there, it felt like a no-brainer. For years, I had been tinkering with a kit printer that never quite delivered consistent results. There was always something to troubleshoot, adjust, or rebuild, and getting high-quality prints felt more like luck than expectation.

I wanted a machine that could simply take a model I designed or downloaded and turn it into a clean, usable print. The P1S finally gave me that experience.

I also picked up the AMS for multi-color capability, this was only the printer box. One of the key differences between the P1S and the higher-end X1E is the hot end and the extruder, which uses hardened gears. After doing some research, I ordered the hardened gears and upgraded hot end so I can eventually print with more exotic filaments.

Here’s the greatest thing about this printer, it is so hands off it’s not funny… I unboxed the printer, setup the AMS, loaded some filament, and went straight for a test model I wanted to print.

I designed an adapter ring for our pond UV filter, simply because I couldn’t buy one… essentially this allowed me to retain our current UV filter with a new light ballast.

The print quality, is amazing!! there was no setup required, no settings changes, just load the file I created in Fusion 360, slice it and print… simply amazing!!

Then I went for a Benchy test print… its a bit hard to see the detail with black filament, but again, simply amazing!

I purchase a 3D model from Etsy for some improved dust collection for my miter saw.. it had been a back burner project to complete for a little while…

This print was just perfect… the print quality, lines and seems are nearly invisible! This was also the 1st and only print… the accuracy and detail, omg!

Here’s another project I’ve been wanting to get to, create a replacement base for my trim router… the base that came with the printer is pitiful! I wanted something round, more substantial and easier adjustment, this project is still a work in progress. It has removable bases plates held in by magnets, the magnets are push fit, no glue!

The biggest change that I need to make to this project is that it needs to be clear base or see through plates, it’s imperative to be able to see the bit as it operates.

Without a doubt… this is where I want to be with a 3D printer, from concept, to design, to product.. simply amazing!
