I thought my microwave just had a blown cooktop bulb and it was going to be an easy fix… of course it isn’t!
After buying an LED bulb to replace the incandescent, when I screwed it in, it stayed on! The light button had no impact on the light, so I initially thought maybe it was the bulb, it didn’t like an LED??? So, I picked up an incandescent bulb, same thing… now I know something’s up.
After doing some poking around on the internet, I found that there is a Triac on the main board that commonly fails. At the price of a Triac, it was worth a shot before replacing the main board, I think it cost all of $1.56.
