For the last 15 years while employed at Papa Johns we put on a golf scramble and I took the responsibility to make trophies for the players, this year I made some nice acrylic trophies. I had some stock laying around the shop so the cost was minimal and it was a fun project to complete, enjoy!
I crafted up a design in Aspire, programmed the tool paths and then chucked up an engraving bit in the CNC (.020 tip) and then I ran a demo in some MDF before trying it on some acrylic.

Once I had the engraving settings that I liked, I started ripping off the trophies. The process was to do the engraving first then cut the perimeters on trophies. The perimeters were cut using an o-flute bit and acrylic settings (18K .0625 DOC 30ipm Feed) for rough cuts and then a final pass (18K .01 DOC Full) to try and remove the cut marks. I haven’t perfected the finish cut yet but its close…

I then crafted some bases from OAK that I had in the shop, added 5V LED lighting, then added an ON/OFF push button into the base, and here’s a look at the finished product.
